Day 52 - When Foxie plotted (or when the clock struck....4...and then 5....)
Day 52 - When Foxie plotted (or when the clock struck....4...and then 5....)
We've had a great day on site today under the chilly, but sunny skies at Foxlease Park. We've had lots of different things going on. We had lots of office-based things, responding to booking enquiries...we're pushing close to 100 bookings and a couple of enquiries coming in each day....preparing some copy for articles and local press - if you've got a local magazine that might want to include an update for us, thenplease let us know - and also plotting out our current bookings to see when we start to get people back on site and to fit in some other things. We've had a great response to our request last week for people who might be able to deliver workshops for us so watch this space as Foxie's Team are plotting in all forms!
In other practical news, thanks to our wonderful Volunteer Peter we now have many less dripping taps and toilets than we did since his first visit and a lovely new outdoor tap (indoors, so as not to ruin our aesthetics) in The Laundry which is ideal for bucket-filling and hose-connecting. We'll take a photo soon to share. We're also delighted to share that as Pete is part of our local Men's Shed, he's rather handy with things other than plumbing and he's taken a look at some very special clocks in our Gold Room in Foxlease House. The mantle clock has taken a little holiday with him for some careful restoration to see if we can restore it to its former working glory and we've got big plans for the restoration of our lovely Grandfather Clock too. It's a short recording, but we thought you might like to hear our lovely clock chime 4 today (it wasn't 4pm...it was more like 2pm...but the clock didn't know that and we can forgive it for the confusion and please ignore Emma's terrible excited laugh when the chime worked). Our lovely clock is not quite back to fighting fit yet, but what a wonderful sound! Truly proof that a little bit of love and Foxlease Park community magic goes a long way!
We've had more hard work inside both The Lodge and The Barn, painting party continuing in both with great pace thanks to our excellent volunteer team working hard again today, and on the outside of The Lodge, Volunteer Sandy has made great progress with getting some of the ivy under control, which was badly needed!
Elsewhere, we had Volunteer Ian working hard convincing (with the aid of some power tools) some doors to open and also some others (in The Coach House) to close, so that we can close off the holey floor in the storage area which was caused by the, now formerly, holey roof in there until its safely repaired, with plans for that soon.
Getting excited for the year to come now, Love Foxie x
