Safeguarding Foxie's Future for the benefit of all.

What is Foxie's Future?

Foxie's Future is a CIO (charity with RCN 1204342) which was incorporated in August 2023 following Girlguiding UK's decision to close and sell the Foxlease Activity Centre, just outside Lyndhurst.

The site is comprised of a heritage building and 63 acres of surrounding lands, which host residential accommodation facilities, camping and adventurous activities. The charity's aim is to purchase the site from Girlguiding UK in order to save it from closure and to ensure that the site remains available for years to come for young people and the local, national and international community that currently uses the site.

The project is making good progress, with in excess of £2.7 million of funding secured since August 2023, following a  Community Ownership Grant Funding Award of £1.73 million of capital funding in March 2024. The project has achieved tremendous support in a short space of time and the charity has submitted its bid to try to secure the site to allow for its long term future use for the purposes above.

The charity would love your support, financially, if you feel able, but also by helping to tell people who may be familiar with the site, or interested in supporting the charity, about the current challenges and the charity's aims. We'd also love your input into shaping the future of Foxlease as a community space.

Foxie's FAQs

  • Q. Why Foxie's Future?

    A. The name is taken from the Foxlease mascot.  Athough Foxie's Future has been created expressly to be supportive of the preservation of Foxlease, we have had to choose a name which recognises that, at this time, the Foxlease brand remains within the ownership of Girlguiding.

  • Q. How can I help?

    A. the charity would love your support, financially, if you feel able, but also by helpding to tell people who may be familiar with the site, or interested in supporting the charity, about the current challenges and the charity's aims.  We'd also love your input into shaping the future of Foxlease as a community space.

If you would like to join our "Foxie's Family" supporter scheme then please contact us by email to mary.foxiesfuture@gmail.com.

We will keep our website and our social media pages updated as things progress so please do check back and keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates!

  • Q. How can I donate and what will my donation be used for?

    A. If you want to help fund Foxie's Future financially then, firstly, thank you!

You can donate to our Crowdfunding Campaign linked elsewhere on this page.

You can add us as a cause on easyfundraising.org.uk which allows you to donate to us through making everyday purchases.

    Donation towards running costs:-

Alternatively, please send us an email to foxiesfunds@gmail.com and we will be in touch with our bank details for you to make a direct transfer and to provide a receipt once your payment is received.

Donations sent in this way will be on a receipted, non-contingent and non-refundable basis and will not be ring-fenced.  We anticipate that any such donations will, at least initially, be used to fund further fundraising, professional fees, administrative or other costs involved in running the Foxie's Future campaign and to support the exploration of the options for preserving and maintaining the Foxlease property and site.  These donations, along with any contingent donations, will also (we hope), in the longer term, support the purchase of the Foxlease property and site from Girlguiding, if that is an option available to Foxie's Future at the appropriate stage.

If Foxie's Future is unsuccessful (which we hope will not be the case) or the Activity Centres are retained by Girlguiding then our current intention is that any residual funds will used to deliver grants to support young people in experiencing adventures and activities, in line with the charity's objects.

  • Q. How can I make contingent donations or future pledges(i.e. you only get the money if successful)?

    A. If you want to make a larger donation specifically to support the purchase of Foxlease by Foxie's Future (in the event that we reach that stage) then, firstly, thank you!

Please send us an email to foxiesfunds@gmail.com and we will be in touch with further details as to how this works as this is a slightly more involved process to ensure that funds are appropriately ring-fenced and preserved.  It is likely that we may ask you to make your donation via our Crowdfunding page, but please do check with us by email and we can confirm this for you.

  • Q. What does Foxie's Future intend to do with Foxlease if successful in its bid to fund an alternative purchase solution?

    A. The charity's Trustees have worked hard since the charity's incorporation in August last year to develop a business plan to support the running of the site if Foxie's Future is successful in its bid to save it.

The business plan covers the first three to five years post-acqusition and allows for the re-opening of the site on a phased based under new ownership to ultimately deliver camping, residential accommodation and outdoor activities to uniformed youth groups, schools, young people and the local community.  We want Foxlease to keep its special magic whilst becoming a community space for future generations to enjoy.

We will keep updating this as things progress but if you have ideas then we want to hear them! Please contact us with your ideas on: foxiesfuture@gmail.com.

  • Q. I hear you have Foxie's Future badges and goodies - how can I buy them?

    A. Foxie's Future logo badges and other goodies and merchandise in support of Foxie's Future are available to purchase now.

Please visit the Foxie's Shopping website at: www.foxiesshopping.co.uk or email foxiesshopping@gmail.com for more information.  If you are internationally based then you will need to order by email please to foxiesshopping@gmail.com so that we can calculate postage for you.

  • Q. I have a bequest or legacy in my will to Friends of Foxlease, what will happen to the money?

    A. We are not able to advise you, but we understand that this bequest or legacy will go to Girlguiding in lieu of Friends of Foxlease if Friends of Foxlease is closed.  If this is not what you want then you will need to arrange to update your will.

As we have now received our charity registration number (1204243), we would be delighted for you to update any legacies or bequests which you may want to transfer to us.

We believe that all the information needed from us for this will be available on the Charity Commission website listing for us; however, if you need anything further, then please do not hesitate to contact us at: foxiesfunds@gmail.com and we will try to assist.

  • Q. Is Foxie's Future connected to or part of Girlguiding?

    A. No. Foxie's Future is an independent legal entity outside of Girlguiding control.  Many of its founders and supporters are or have been active members of Girlguiding and Foxie's Future is keen to work collaboratively with Girlguiding Trustees to acquire the site if possible.

  • Q. Is Foxie's Future working with Girlguiding Trustees on efforts to save Foxlease?

    A. Foxie's Future has spoken to Girlguiding following the decision of its Trustees announced in August 2023 and we are keen to work with them to find a solution which enables us to purchase Foxlease.

We will continue to seek an active dialogue with them regarding Foxlease Activity Centre as things progress but we have been given no right of first refusal or similar at this stage.

We will update the website and social media pages as and when we are able to do so.

  • Q. Are you connected with Friends of Foxlease?

    A. No, Foxie's Future is a separate legal entity, although some of its founders and supporters are also part of FoF. Unfortunately, as Friends of Foxlease is a charity under Girlguiding's umbrella, it is unable to take on the challenge of finding and funding an alternative to the sale of Foxlease.

  • Q. Can I be a supporter of Foxie's Future and a member of Friends of Foxlease?

    A. Yes, absolutely.  Friends of Foxlease are supportive of Foxie's Future, for which we are grateful but funds paid to Friends of Foxlease belong to Girlguiding and so cannot be used to save Foxlease via an alternative bid. To support that cause, you need to donate to Foxie's Future (please see how above).

  • Q. I work in media or news, how do I contact Foxie's Future to find out more?

    A. Please contact us by email in the first instance at: foxiesfuture@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Q. I have a question that isn't answered above, how do I find out the answer?

    A. Please contact us at: foxiesfuture@gmail.com and ask us your question! We'd love to hear from you and will come back to you as soon as possible.
