Day 43 - Foxlease Park's first New Year's Day and some resolutions for a Foxie 2025.

1 January 2025

Day 43 - Foxlease Park's first New Year's Day and some resolutions for a Foxie 2025.

A quiet New Year's Day on site today, with some finishing-off jobs being done.  More windows in The Barn carefully prepped for safety filming when the new rolls of film from the Amazon wishlist arrive shortly, some sink sealant in The Accessible Suite being finished off and the Singing Washing Machine belting out another couple of solos in The Laundry.  Lots of lists being made ready for large numbers of volunteers on site again and our insurance inspection tomorrow - cross everything for us that they agree to keep covering us and allowing us to pay the extortionate, but very necessary annual insurance premium!

As today was quieter on site, we thought we'd come up with a bit of a (very) brief numerical round-up of Foxie's year and some Foxie resolutions (or more accurately, aspirations) for the coming year. So, without further ado:-

Foxie's New Year Round-up:-

1 x successful acquisition of Foxlease Park and 1 x celebratory glass of bubbles;

2 x Foxlease Park Newsletter Editions sent and 2 x new Singing Appliances in The Laundry;

3 x doors broken into/coded padlocks hacked on site and 3 x properties on the market;

4 x jars of coffee consumed and 4 x Christmas fundraising fairs/events attended;

5 x grant applications or requests for funding granted and 5 x leaks discovered to varying degrees;

6 x mountains in the Amazon Mountain Range and 6 x coded padlocks reset by Iain and Paul;

7 x bottles of mould remover used and 7 x drop offs of wonderful donated materials;

8 x late night trips to reset alarms on site and 8 x prospective partnership meetings;

9 x members of the Foxie's crew and 9 x impromptu scavenger hunts (each week);

10 x loads of curtains washed and 10 x trips back to the Site Office for forgotten keys;

75 x bookings;

Approximate on site volunteer hours given in 2024: 2,940;

Most steps walked on site by one person in a single day since acquisition = 25,600;

and so many more metrics we could use!

Foxie's Resolutions/Aspirations:-

1 x month with no late night alarm call outs;

1 x weekend with more booking requests than we can cope with;

1 x day with over 1,000 paying visitors on site;

1 x weekend fully booked;

1 x successful Heritage Open Week with more than 300 attendees;

1 x new oven for the The Coach House;

100 + New Foxie's Family Members;

10 x kayaks on the lake by midsummer;

50+ campfire's burning;

500 x s'mores consumed on site (Emma's started already to help the count - current tally this week = 1);

100 x Forest Bathers;

5 x Guided Bat Walks;

5 x Star Gazing Evenings;

24 x Organised Fundraising Events;

60 x Quizzical chilli eaters;

24 Hours of Foxie's Singing;

300+ volunteers signed up;

1000's of Happy Campers;

10,000+ New visitors to site; and

Countless moments of Foxlease Park Magic yet to come (we hope)!

Happy New Year to all, Love Foxie x
