Day 24 - The day Foxie explored the sluice gate and the NFNPA Volunteering Team came to visit.
Foxie had great adventures outdoors on site today , exploring around the Lake and investigating when and how the sluice gate works. We're pleased to say that the mission was successful!
We also had lots of office-based things going on, collating the inventories completed by our hardworking volunteers to tell us what state our buildings are in. We had some repairs going on to fencing on some of the site and to some safety elements like the handrail on the stairs in The Lodge which used to spin, and now it doesn't.
The most exciting part of our day was meeting James and Katie from New Forest National Park Authority to take them around the site and see what projects we can get their volunteers involved in in the New Year. It turns out there are soooo many different things in the grounds which their volunteers might be able to help with, from ensure that we know what flora we have, helping us remove anything that shouldn't be there and encourage anything that should be to thrive. We're also hoping that they might be able to help us out with some new fencing and giving some love to some of the natural hedgerows and fencing which have been let go a bit - they've got such a great knowledge bank to help us out and we're really excited to see where the project goes in the future.
We're doing our best to schedule in our willing volunteers to help us get things done and we're looking forwards to getting started on outside works soon too, as we've mostly had to be focussing on indoor tasks for the first few weeks.
In other news, Little Skip is also 2/3rds full!
On site with our volunteer Magician Electrician tomorrow, Love Foxie x
